Day Trips to Atlanta
While many of our hotel visitors come from Atlanta for a break from the city, many of our other visitors don’t realize how close we are to the city. In fact, some of the top attractions in Atlanta are just over an hour from our hotel.
This allows guests to spend the day on the lake and then take a trip into the city in the evening for dinner, to catch an Atlanta Braves game, and more. Guests can also take a day away from Lake Oconee and visit Zoo Atlanta, the Coca Cola Museum, and other great Atlanta attractions.
Each of these attractions is less than a 90 minute drive from our hotel.
It's A Great Day For Baseball!
If you’re a baseball fan, The Lodge on Lake Oconee is at the hub of great major league and minor league baseball action. While watching the Atlanta Braves is a great experience, minor league ballparks offer tons of fun at a very affordable price. Minor league ballparks usually have plenty of kid friendly activities and events at each game. Seriously, try the Bacon!
Athens, Macon, and Augusta
Come game weekends, The Lodge on Lake Oconee is a favorite spot of Georgia Bulldog football fans. Athens is also home to the State Botanical Garden of Georgia, the Georgia Museum of Art, Bear Hollow Zoo, Sandy Creek Nature Center, and numerous places to shop and dine.
If you love baseball, check out a Macon Bacon baseball game at Luther Williams Field. Macon has numerous festivals throughout the year and local attractions include the Ocmulgee Mounds National Historic Park, Mulberry Street Market, Hay House, Georgia Sports Hall of Fame, and the Tubman Museum.
Without a doubt, The Master’s Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club is the leading event in Augusta, and during that week The Lodge is filled with guests attending the tournament. Other activities and attractions include the Augusta Museum of History, Riverwalk, Meadow Garden, and plenty of shopping and dining opportunities.
